I had seen advertisments in Woodenboat magazine for plans for several styles of Cradle Boats. When Tracey and I found out we were to have another addition to our family I decided I'd like to build a Cradle Boat for my new child. I purchased from WoodenBoat The Expectant Fathers Cradle Boat Book. The book contains two designs. I elected to do the simple design (as I'm still trying to finish my real boat).

The first step was to get some full size plans. I took the advice give in the book and had the plans given in the back of the book blown up to full size. I actually scaled them up a bit. When our first child was born he was the same length as the floor board. I thought it prudent to increase the size by about 20%.
